the last online class that i will ever take!
Chapter 6
I have now completed my service work and it felt amazing to be
able to spend my time helping these girls recover from their
situations. I have enjoyed this week a lot and thought that
reaching back to elementary school and working with metaphors,
and similes. This reminded me how to be more creative when I
am writing. I’m my opinion, using metaphors and similes really
bring out the color in the work we are writing. I personally find
that when I do write, I tend to use words that I think are creative
but, they don’t fit the mood or the topic. In chapter 6 it shows up
a few ideas on what words we should use and not use. This was
a huge help because I tend to ver. off the subject when I am
choosing creative words to bring out the spice in my papers. So
now I have realized that I need to do more research on the
meanings of words before use them. I also learned that I had a
simile and metaphor mixed up. When I am trying to create a
simile when writing I find that I am always stuck on choosing the
describing word. For instance, the river was huge like…? This is
where I get in trouble and find myself thinking of all the words
that would go in the blank. I do honestly think that after chapter 6,
I just may be able to put the words together better without much
thought and contemplation.
chapter 5:This week is over all ready? Wow! I have learned so
much about my issue and all the people that need my help. We
had a woman come into the office on Friday and it was so
sobering to see the bruises and here about all the pain she was
going through. What a reality shock this was for me and all the
staff. I found myself stuck and unable to find any words to say to
her to comfort her and make all her fears go away. She was
beaten badly by her boyfriend and any one could see the
helplessness in her eyes. I have never been in that situation
before and I hope that next time I see someone like that that I can
find some words to say to them and not freeze up like I did. I see
that our home work is getting better to understand and I feel so
silly for stressing out about this class so much. I find myself
reading every day writings and analyzing it like we do in this class
and boy oh boy it makes life so much easier. I have always had a
hard time understanding my scriptures and I’m finding that I am
more able to separate the paragraph and find true meaning to
them. This makes one of my classes at church so much easier
because i am able to aply critical reading to my talks and classes.
